A originative influence on the development of thresh and black metallic element, Venom formed during the recent '70s in Newcastle, England. Originally a five-piece mathematical mathematical group called Oberon, they eventually cut their lineup to a triple comprising singer/bassist Conrad "Cronos" Lant, guitar player Jeff "Mantas" Dunn, and drummer Tony "Abaddon" Bray. Influenced by the cloggy intensity level of Motörhead and the visual newsflash of Kiss, the raw rechristened Venom developed a drab, toothsome sound which paved the style for the subsequent get up of lick medicine; likewise, their charnel, proudly diabolical simulacrum proved a major divine guidance for the legions of dim metal bands to appear in their heat, level lending the genre its mention with the release of their 1982 soph LP, Dark Metal. (Their debut, Welcome to Hell, preceded it by a twelvemonth.)

Venom's third album, At War with Satan, followed in 1983, and deuce years later they released Possessed. Lineup changes plagued the mathematical group in the years to follow, with Mantas exiting in the awaken of 1985's live Eine Kleine Nachtmusik; guitarists Matt Hickey and Jimmy Clare were tapped as his replacements, fashioning their debut on 1987's Lull Before the Storm. Cronos then throw in the towel as well, nonetheless, climb a solo life history and taking both Hickey and Clare with him as he left wing; at that level Mantas rejoined Abaddon to var. a new edition of Venom with onetime Atomkraft vocalist/bassist Tony "The Demolition Risk" Dolan and guitar player Al Barnes. The new card made its curtain call on 1989's Prime Evil; Tear Your Soul Apart appeared a class later.

After 1991's Temples of Ice, Barnes foreswear Venom; his absence was filled by guitarist Steve "War Maniac" White, world Health Organization on with keyboardist V.X.S. was recruited in time for 1992's The Waste Lands before both chop-chop exited. The trio of Mantas, Abaddon, and Dolan continued touring end-to-end the heart days of the decade, although no more than new studio recordings were coming; in the end, in 1996 Cronos returned to the Venom fold, making way for Dolan's departure. The original lineup's generate to action was heralded by the release of the mini-album Venom '96, followed in 1997 by the uncut Made in Stone. After a human beings reverse, Venom issued the two-disc New, Live & Rare in mid-1998. Interred Alive appeared a class later, and in the springiness of 2000 the mathematical group returned with The Court of Death and Beauty and the Beast. In 2006 they storied their 25th anniversary with Alloy Black.

Ted Heath was one and only of the most noted big band leaders in Great Britain of the 1950's. His bands played modernized swing over out music that was constantly danceable simply at times had worthwhile solos played in the customs. Heath started kO'd playing tenor horn ahead he switched to trombone when he was 14. He fatigued a period of time playing as a street musician and and then was observed by Jack Hylton wHO hired him for his dance orchestra. Heath had long stints as a sideman with a kind of crest dancing bands including Bert Firman (1924-25), Hylton once more (1925-27), Ambrose (1928-36), Sydney Lipton (1936-39) and Geraldo (1939-44). Heath began prima his have swelled band in 1944 and, through regular appearances on the receiving set, tours and concerts, he shortly became a family list in England. The innovations of bop were largely neglected in party favor of playing swing-oriented charts although some of Heath's soloists (particularly Ronnie Scott, Danny Moss, Don Rendell and Kenny Baker) became noteworthy as jazz players. Ted Heath, whose band was always of high musicianship and exploited "Mind To The Music" as its theme song, as well became well-known in the United States, visiting the U.S. several times starting in 1956. His orchestra recorded quite often starting in 1944 (by and with child for Decca and London) including 10 albums in 1959 lone. Hollywood sees cracks in gay "glass closet"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood's "glass closet" may not be shattered, but with stars such as Ellen DeGeneres and T.R. Knight openly out and shows like "The L Word" proving popular in recent years, insiders say being gay or lesbian is no longer a career breaker for celebrities.

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday gave a final approval for gay marriages in the state, clearing the way for talk show host DeGeneres and her girlfriend of four years, actress Portia de Rossi, to marry as planned.

Last week actress Lindsay Lohan, 21, was the subject of widespread talk in celebrity magazines that she was having a lesbian affair with friend Samantha Ronson, prompting some in Hollywood to encourage her to go public with the relationship.

If she did, it might not hurt her career, as it most definitely would have only a few years ago. In fact, say many gay Hollywood players, it has not hurt theirs.

"After publicly coming out, I haven't noticed a difference," "Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight told Reuters at an event to celebrate gay marriage in West Hollywood.

But Knight, who was forced by a colleague to disclose publicly he was gay, noted he had a steady job, which cannot be said for others.

Actor Rock Hudson kept his homosexuality a secret for decades for fear it would hurt his ability to win leading-man roles. His death to AIDS-related illness in 1985 shocked Americans, and when DeGeneres publicly came out in the late 1990s it caused a media sensation.

But by early this decade, TV show "Will & Grace," about the lives of a gay man and straight woman, had become a critical and audience hit, a sign of increasing public acceptance.

Carl Barat: 'The Libertines would only reunite to make an album'

Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat has said that the only reason he would reunite with Pete Doherty to reform The Libertines would be to make a new studio album.

Speaking to The Independent, Barat suggested that he would consider working again with his former bandmate once Dirty Pretty Things had run its course.

"Once I've done what I'm doing now [Dirty Pretty Things], it [reuniting with Doherty] won't be hard at all," he said. "It may detract in the short term from what I'm trying to achieve.

"It's certainly a friendship I cherish. But I want to let it be for a while. A lot of my friends say you should only do a reunion if you're going to write a new album. I agree. Otherwise it's just a cash-cow, a glory-milker.

"I've still got a 'Libertine' tattoo on my arm."

Kiss: 'We Have More Money Than Some Small Countries'

US rock band Kiss have claimed to have a greater total wealth than a number of small countries.

In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, neither signer and guitarist Paul Stanley or bassist Gene Simmons revealed how much they were worth.

However, Simmons – who has an individual wealth reported to be near $100million – did say that they felt “very blessed”.

“It's a privilege to do what we do - and let's say we make a living," he continued.

"Margaret Thatcher set the record straight: it's not having money that's the root of all evil."

Kiss will headline the Download Festival in Donnington next month. Tickets for the festival have sold out.
